Distance Education In Kuwait And Legal Conflict

30 November 2020 Education

The distance education regulation has a problem due to a legal conflict; particularly the stipulation that the students are not obligated to be in Kuwait, while it explicitly stated the need for teachers to be in the country, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a source from Kuwait University.

According to the source, Article 23 of the regulation states the final exams shall be conducted in university buildings unless the college board decides otherwise, while Article 24 stipulates that the semester tests and other evaluation methods are conducted using approved educational platforms unless the college board decides otherwise.

The source pointed out this contradiction caused many problems after the passage of two semesters of applying the distance education system at Kuwait University.

The source added the inability of some students to attend colleges for health reasons such as diseases or other conditions related to immunodeficiency or infection with the virus, calling on the university administration to consider this problem in order to protect the students ’academic future.
