Czech Envoy Voices Regret
Czech Republic Ambassador to the State of Kuwait Martin Dvorak on Monday expressed deep regret for posting the Israeli flag on his social media personal account, drawing a wave of wrath and dismay in shadow of the current tragic conditions in Gaza Strip.
Ambassador Dvorak said on the Czech Embassy website that he did not take into consideration sentiments “of many of my close Kuwaiti and Muslim friends and I desire to apologize to them and also to all Kuwaitis and Palestinians and all who have been disgruntled by this conduct.”
The envoy said he did not intend to express disrespect toward the Palestinian innocent victims.
He has added that since taking office, he has been seeking to establish the best possible relations between Kuwait and his country.
Dvorak has added that he has expressed no hatred or fanaticism toward Muslims, Arabs or any other racial or religious community.
“I apologize once more to any person who sensed harm from this regretful act,” he added, re-affirming his keenness on maintaining “the brotherly relations” with the State of Kuwait.
Kuwait Foreign Ministry earlier on Monday summoned the Ambassador, expressing vehement rejection of his rhetoric on his personal account on Instagram.
The Kuwait Foreign Ministry, in a press release, stated, “Such behavior that constitutes grave harm to sentiments of the State of Kuwait at the official and popular levels is not adequate to the nature of the diplomacy career, contradicts diplomatic norms, texts of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”
