Court Sentenced An Expat Man To 3 Yrs In Prison For Allegedly Defrauding A Kuwaiti Woman

The Court of Appeals has set aside the verdict of the Court of First Instance that sentenced an expatriate man to three years in prison with hard labor for allegedly defrauding a Kuwaiti woman by using her card to purchase a mobile phone online via K-Net. The appellate court thereby refrained from pronouncing penalty against the suspect but obligated him to sign an undertaking to be of good moral conduct. The case file indicates the suspect obtained details of the plaintiff with which he did the transaction online without the consent of the rightful owner. Defense Lawyer En’am Haider said her client did not benefit from the card, because he paid the value of the sum spent online to make the plaintiff withdraw the case. She stressed her client was a first-time offender, and pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy by refraining from pronouncing a penalty.
