The Court of Cassation has set the session of April 24 for the trial of the case filed against a group infamously known as “Fintas Group”. Previously, the Court of Appeals had upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced Hamad Al-Haroun, the prime suspect, in absentia to ten-year imprisonment with hard labor. It also imposed jail sentences against three other Kuwaitis who helped Al-Haroun escape from the country.

The court also sentenced Abdulmohsen Al-Ateeqi, Falah Al-Hajraf, Sheikh Ali Al-Khalifa, Sheikh Ahmad Dawood Al-Sabah and Sheikh Athbi Al-Sabah to five-year imprisonment with hard labor. Saud Al-Asfouri was sentenced to one-year imprisonment with hard labor while the other defendants involved in the case were acquitted.
