Court Denies Bail For Kuna Website Hacker

The Criminal Court, headed by Counselor Mohammad Ghazi Al-Mutairi, refused to release on bail an expatriate who is charged with hacking the account of the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and broadcasting false news attributed to the Kuwaiti Minister of Defense about withdrawal of US forces from Kuwait, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The State Security Agency had referred the accused to the Public Prosecution for investigation after he was suspected of the incident in which the KUNA account was hacked, and published false news attributed to the Minister of Defense, Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, regarding the withdrawal of US forces from the country.

The Al-Rai daily said, in court, the suspect denied the charges saying, “I did not post any tweets on Twitter, and I do not know how to use it, and I did not write anything and there is someone who I don’t know who fabricated the charge against me.” He added, “I did not broadcast this news, and I was surprised when the security forces picked me from my house. I do not know who wrote the tweets.”
