Court Acquits Four Kuwaitis In ‘kidnap, Gangrape’ Of A Minor Expat Girl
The Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Nasser Al-Hayd, acquitted four Kuwaiti citizens who were accused of kidnapping a minor expatriate girl and gangraping her. The Public Prosecution charged three of the defendants with kidnapping the victim, given that she was under the age of eighteen. The prosecution stated that the fourth defendant was unable to rape the victim because of her resistance.
The Court of First Instance had ruled to refrain from pronouncing any punishment for the three of the defendants, provided each of them submits a pledge to maintain good conduct for a period of two years, and paid a financial guarantee of KD 500. The court also imposed a fine of KD 100 on one of the defendants for driving a vehicle without a license. The court acquitted all the defendants of the charge of indecent assault leveled against them in the indictment report. It ordered that the civil case be referred to the competent court for consideration.
