Complaint Filed On A Citizen

Hussain Ashour, a citizen, filed a complaint at the Public Prosecution against owner of Wazaker Center Fuad Sayed Al-Refa’ee for installing signboards in his center as he deems the contents undermining national unity and hurting the feelings of Shiite citizens. Ashour said in his complaint that the signboards contained phrases such as, “Ashoura’a Day is a day of joy and happiness and it is not a day for crying and mourning.” He pointed out this violates the Shiite fundamentals which consider that day a sad one as it was the day when Hussain was martyred.

He added the action provokes hatred and enmity toward a sector of the society represented by Shiite citizens, arguing this violates the Constitution and Kuwait Municipality laws which prohibit installing signboards or advertisements in private houses or buildings without obtaining a license.
