Churches In Kuwait Open From Friday … Some Next Week
The pastor of the Greek Orthodox Church in Kuwait and the diocese of Kuwait and Baghdad, Bishop Ghattas Hazeem, announced that the church in the Salwa area will resume its services from Friday with a mass that will be held at 9am for an hour.
He stated that all the required precautions to preserve the safety of worshipers who visit the church have been taken. The Greek Orthodox Church can accommodate 150 worshipers and the worshipers will be received after ensuring their entry after they are sterilized, wearing masks, and checking their temperature.
The National Evangelical Church in Kuwait, Emmanuel Gharib, confirmed that “the evangelical church in Kuwait has completed all preparations” for the return of the worshipers, indicating that coordination exists with the official authorities to return, but no date has been set yet.
Gharib explained that those below the age of 15 or those over the age of 65 will not be allowed in the churches, as well as those who suffer from chronic diseases. He further that the official precautionary measures announced by the Ministry of Health will be adhered to wearing gloves, checking the temperature and maintaining social distance.
He stated that we are expecting to receive worshipers most likely from next week .
The Patriarchal Vicar of the Greek Catholics in Kuwait, Archimandrite Boutros Gharib, stated that the church will open its doors next week, and we have taken all precautionary measures, such as sterilization, measuring temperatures, and maintaining social distancing. We ask God to protect everyone.
