Budget For Current Fiscal Yr Includes $1.1 Bln To Buy Eurofighter Aircrafts
The budget for the current fiscal year includes $1.1 billion for Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources.
Sources said KD 340 million of the budget of the Ministry of Defense is allotted for the purchase of machinery and air transport equipment. Sources disclosed the amount is allocated for the purchase of Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft for more than one fiscal year according to the ministry’s memorandum of understanding (MoU) for fiscal 2018/2019.
Sources stressed that this contract is only for the intended purpose, indicating the savings from this amount should not be used to promote other items. Moreover Ambassador Fahad Al-Awadhi has been appointed as the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs in place of Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani who has been transferred to Embassy of Kuwait in Jordan, reports Al-Rai daily quoting diplomatic sources.
Al-Awadhi took over his new position last week and is now in Cairo, heading the Kuwaiti delegation in preparing for the ministerial meeting No. 150 at the Arab League. Al-Awadhi has previously worked as the Kuwaiti Ambassador in a number of countries including Tunisia, Syria, Sudan and India. According to the sources, Hamad Ali Al-Huzaim has been appointed as General Consul of Kuwait in New York based on decree No. 257/2018.
Al-Huzaim earlier worked in Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997 where he occupied a number of diplomatic positions in different counties including Brazil, France, Malaysia and Germany. Meanwhile, Al-Nahar daily reported that Ambassador Jamal Alghanim will continue on as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Financial and Administrative Affairs.
