Biometric Attendance Mulled For Schools
Fatwa and Legislation Department has approved the general and private conditions concerning the tender for supplying fingerprint attendance devices to schools, reports Al-Rai daily quoting educational sources.
They indicated that the tender is still with the Central Agency for Public Tenders and has not yet been approved by the monitoring bodies including State Audit Bureau. The sources explained that Ministry of Education are unable to determine the exact date for installation and operation of the fingerprint devices in various schools due to the documentation cycle of the project which will takes unpredictable period at the monitoring institutions.
The cost of the project is estimated to be about KD 1 million including installation of fingerprint devices in all schools of Kuwait. The sources elaborated about the controls set by the Finance Department of the ministry in terms of commitment to the regulations laid down by the monitoring bodies in this regard such as preparation of documents of the tender including the detailed description of the devices.
They stressed that the description should be clear and should be met by the available devices in the market in order to make it easy for the contractors to fill the applications. The sources indicated that the regulations prevent making essential changes during the fl oating period in order to avoid any delay in the settling of the tender followed by delay in completion of the project.
