Billboard Removed After Controversy In Kuwait

An undefined road billboard has been removed in Kuwait due to furore over its wording.

The sign read, "I apologize deeply, and I hope you'll accept my apology." It later turned out to be an ad for a new dish published by a local restaurant.

MP Fayez Ghanam, however, wrong the billboard and called for its removal to protect moral values.

As soon as the advert was removed, the lawmaker expressed his thanks to Rana Al Fares, the Minister of Municipality.

In a tweet attached to images of the contested billboard, the lawmaker stated, "I'm deeply grateful for the minister's response regarding the removal of this silly billboard to protect public morals, prevent vulgarity and avoid casting Kuwaiti society in an unfavorable light."

It drew some criticism, however, when the advertisement was removed.

According to Al Jarida newspaper comments "Even though this commercial ad only appeared on streets after obtaining a license, both the lawmaker and the minister failed to hold them accountable for rampant corruption and misuse of public funds." The newspaper accused both of asking questions about morals and intentions of people through this advertisement.
