At Night, The Temperature Drops To Zero

23 January 2023 Weather in Kuwait

According to astronomer and historian Adel Al-Saadoun, head of the Kuwaiti Astronomical Society, the country is presently experiencing an (Azraq) cold, which is within the Shabt season, the coldest day of the year.

Saadoun told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the cold of Al-Azirq usually takes place on January 24 and lasts until January 31, indicating that it is characterized by extreme cold, resulting in blue faces and limbs. It also bleeds the noses of cattle and camels, reports Al-Rai daily.

He mentioned that the cold of Azraq is characterized by cold northwesterly winds of medium speed, which can sometimes increase in speed because of an air elevation over the Caspian Sea, which drives the cold northwesterly winds to the Levant and the Arabian Peninsula, including Kuwait.

In addition, he noted that temperatures sometimes fall below zero at the end of the night, rather than in the day, since the sun influences temperatures, indicating that open areas, deserts, and farms are most affected by the cold.
