The Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Rana Al-Faris, and the Head of the General Administration of Civil Aviation Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah visited the new Kuwait Airport Building (T2) project to see the progress of the project.
The Ministry of Public Works said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) today, Friday, that during the visit, ways to overcome all challenges were discussed in order to implement the components of the project and to complete them according to the timetable.
The statement quoted Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah as confirming his keenness to closely monitor the progress of work at the project site, indicating the administration’s readiness to overcome all challenges and enhance coordination and joint work to speed up the steps of completing the project.
The statement stated that the project represents one of the largest development plan projects in the country and aims to implement the standards of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) at the gold level, as it will become the first passenger building in the world to achieve this level of environmental accreditation.
He added that the concrete structure of the new building of Kuwait International Airport will provide thermal mass, while the roof includes large areas of photovoltaic panels to harvest solar energy.
