13 Kd Debited After The Plan Expired In Ooredoo
Unexpected Charges with Ooredoo's Surprise Plan: The Importance of Timely Notifications
Recently, I had an unsettling experience with my Ooredoo mobile account that I feel is essential to share with fellow users for awareness.
On a weekend night, the Ooredoo app sent me a notification of a seemingly attractive offer: a staggering 40 GB of data for merely 1 KD, valid for one month. Without hesitation, I activated this package, confidently assuming it would auto-renew upon expiration, as many other plans do.
My peace of mind was shattered days later when I was informed that 13 KD had been unexpectedly debited from my account. Even more shocking was the lack of any prior notification, either through SMS or the app, warning me of my plan's impending expiration.
Upon seeking clarity from Ooredoo's customer support, I was told that once my plan had depleted—which unbeknownst to me, occurred in the dead of night—I was transitioned to a rate of 1 KD for every 10 MB of data. In essence, I had been charged a staggering 13 KD for a mere 130 MB of data use, an amount trivial in today's digital era.
What's particularly troubling is not just the exorbitant charge for overages but the glaring absence of timely reminders. Users should be informed before their plans run out to either renew or manage their data consumption. Moreover, there should ideally be a feature to automatically halt data once the package limit is reached to prevent such unforeseen expenses.
I share this experience as a cautionary tale for all Ooredoo users, especially those drawn to "surprise" packages. Always be vigilant about your data usage and, more importantly, the terms and conditions of your chosen plan. An absence of timely reminders could see you incurring unexpected costs.
