70 Percent Kuwaitis Will Queue For Jobs In Five Years
The economic reports say the government will be unable to employ 70% of Kuwaitis seeking jobs over the next five years, indicating that the actual capacity for employment during the mentioned period will be between 25 and 30 thousand only, or 30%.
The sources have indicated that the government must support the private sector to absorb the remaining percentages, and explained the slow pace of economic reforms will not help relieve pressure on the state’s general budget.
The Annahar daily has learned now the tendency is to seek the opening in the private sector in light of the financial pressures imposed on the public sector, which limit long-term employment, with the need to align education with the needs of the labor market in order to prevent budget depletion and waste in the form of disguised unemployment which is the ongoing trend.
The sources called for remedying the existing imbalance in the labor market between the public and private sectors and imposing reforms to bridge the gap between the two sectors, noting that the lack of achievement deepens the absence of the ability to provide new job opportunities for university graduates.
The sources said the need of the hour is to look effectively at the development of non-oil sectors to provide sufficient opportunities in the private sector and pointed out the reform of social benefits and labor market policies will support competitiveness, attract foreign and local investments, and at the same time reduce pressures on employment.
