60,000 Expats Over Age Of 60 Will Leave Kuwait In January
According to Aljarida that Only 4 months shall separate expatriates of 60 years and over who hold high school diplomas and below, and the equivalent certificates, from leaving the country permanently, following the issuance of the Director of the Public Authority for Manpower, Ahmed Al-Mousa, yesterday, Administrative Decision No. 520 of 2020, and the judge Banning the issuance of their work permits, as of early January 2021.
According to the sources of the “manpower”, this decision comes within a package of decisions that will be issued in succession during the next stage by the Supreme Committee to address the imbalance that afflicted the country’s demographics, with the aim of controlling and organizing the labor market, limiting marginal and loose employment, and preserving the specialized, technical and diploma holders. The sources indicated that the decision includes about 60 thousand residents in the country who have reached the age of 60, in addition to between 5 and 10 thousand residents annually, who do not hold university degrees, divided between completely illiterate or holders of primary, intermediate, diploma and general secondary certificates, adding that so far there are no Exceptions in implementing the decision, but she expected some categories to be excluded.
