48.6% Report Feeling More Stressed Or Depressed
A survey conducted by the Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital on about 400 outpatients after the end of the total and partial ban in the country revealed that 54%Â of those polled are satisfied with their physical health since the start of the Corona pandemic until now, with 50% of them complaining of increased body mass and changes in dietary habits during that time.
According to a local Arabic daily, Noura Al-Muhailbi, a health education researcher at the Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit, 48.6% of them had an increased rate of stress and sadness during that period, according to the questionnaire.
During the pandemic, 24% of individuals consumed foods high in sugars and starches on a regular basis, 17.5%Â ingested foods high in fats on a periodic basis, and just 31.8%Â consumed foods high in vitamins and minerals on a regular basis, according to the survey.
In a statement, Al-Muhailbi confirmed that walking was the most popular form of exercise during the pandemic, with 57%Â of respondents doing so, followed by 7.8% riding a stationary or mobile bike, 4.5 %Â swimming, 7.5% lifting weights or stretching ligaments, and 13.3% training sessions with a specialist in attendance.
According to Al-Muhailbi, 46.8% of followers reported a rise in their weight during the pandemic, and 11% of them had a chronic ailment such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, arteriosclerosis, stroke, heart muscle weakness, respiratory disorders, or cancer. While 29.3% of them said they had a chronic illness prior to the pandemic, and that the illness began during the Corona crisis.
