38 Illegal Workers Are Busted In Salmiya Call Center By A Task Force

09 May 2024 Kuwait

In a concerted effort to combat illegal labor practices and uphold labor market regulations, the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) spearheaded a coordinated campaign in Salmiya.

This operation resulted in the apprehension of 38 individuals found to be violating residency rules. The inspection team, consisting of representatives from PAM, the Ministry of Interior, the Kuwait Municipality, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, focused their efforts on a call center operating in Salmiya. Upon investigation, it was discovered that all 38 workers held Article 22 (Joining Family) residency permits but were employed by the call center, which was not their registered sponsor.

This raid is part of an ongoing campaign by PAM and its partners to crack down on illegal labor practices, including marginal labor, employment with non-registered sponsors, and the activities of residency traders and fictitious companies. Such practices have disrupted the labor market and contributed to demographic imbalances in Kuwait.

PAM reaffirms its dedication to upholding its responsibilities with transparency and enforcing Law No. 6 of 2010 on Work in the Private Sector, along with its implementing ministerial and administrative decisions, without exception.
