30,000 ‘smart Meters’ Installed In Salmiya Until Date

29 November 2021 Kuwait

In nearly two months, since the launch of the water and electricity smart meters project, the Ministry of Electricity and Water revealed 30,000 smart meters have been installed in Salmiya which is equivalent to nearly half of the meters required by the residents of the area.

The sources told Al-Qabas the installation process will soon begin at Hawalli within a little more than a month, with the increase in the process of installing meters, which has jumped in recent days to about 1,000 meters per day.

The sources explained the teams deal first-hand with any problems that appear on the field, and that all those who had the meters installed have paid their previous dues.

The sources indicated a lot of overdue money has been collected since the beginning of the current fiscal, compared to what it was at the height of the Corona pandemic. The sources pointed out that the collections have exceeded 300 million dinars since the beginning of the current fiscal in early April, and that the ministry expects to exceed the target amount during the current fiscal year, which is estimated at 370 million dinars.
