181 Thousand Criminal Cases Reported In 8 Months
Between January 1 and August 20, 2023, the Court of First Instance received 181,298 new criminal cases, according to Ministry of Justice data.
A copy of the figures Al-Qabas obtained shows there were 2,077 criminal cases, including 26 state security felonies, 8,065 misdemeanors, 789 cases relating to information technology, and 4,470 municipal violation misdemeanors. During the same period, there were 723 registered cases involving domestic violence.
According to the report, commercial misdemeanors constituted 3,529 cases, traffic-related criminal orders were 2,959, environmental misdemeanors were 3,069, and check-related misdemeanors were 1,172.
A total of 1,308 juvenile misdemeanors were committed, while 1,594 other misdemeanors were committed.
Additionally, the data revealed that 446 grievances were officially recorded, along with 105 cases of absenteeism misdemeanors. Moreover, the records documented 4,866 passport-related misdemeanors, 42 cases linked to fisheries misdemeanors, and 4,115 instances of traffic-related misdemeanors.
Additionally, the statistics revealed that the Public Prosecution was charged with 95 misdemeanors, as well as 47 judicial inventory cases, 44 company inventory assessments, 24 cases involving electronic media, 36 instances of lawyers' complaints, 15 instances of money laundering, seven instances of copyright violations, and 141,648 misdemeanor appeals.
