1,500 ‘not Road Worthy’ Vehicles Impounded
About 1,500 vehicles have been impounded by the security authorities during a campaign organized by the Technical Inspection Department (TID) in cooperation with five other teams of the General Traffic Department in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh during a three-hour campaign Monday.
The campaign was organized upon instructions of the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Sector, Major-General Jamal Al-Sayegh.
The Director of the Technical Inspection Department, Colonel Mishaal Al-Suwaiji, told Al-Rai, 1,060 direct and 409 indirect citations were issued all pertaining to the lack of security and durability conditions.
He stressed the owner will not be able to pay the fine unless he visits the concerned department personally and takes the vehicle to the technical inspection department after paying the fine to ensure it is road worthy.
