1,200 Expatriates Deported For Drug Trafficking

10 October 2023 Expats

According to a security source, over 1,200 expatriates of various nationalities have been deported over the last 10 months, starting in January and ending in October, by the General Administration for Combating Narcotics, within the criminal security sector.

It marks a record for the year in the ongoing campaign against drug traffickers, spearheaded by Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled. According to Al-Anba daily, various branches of the Ministry of Interior are executing these campaigns.

In each case, the deportations were the result of thorough investigations into the individuals' involvement with narcotics, sources of these substances, or places of drug acquisition.

Considering the lack of substantial evidence found in these individuals, and in order to relieve the burden on the judiciary, deportation is seen as a measure for public welfare.

Alcohol and drugs seized from deportees are disposed of in collaboration with the Public Prosecution. All deportees are fingerprinted, and their names are added to a list of those prohibited from reentering the country.

Sources confirmed that the anti-drug units continue to pursue cases involving drug trafficking and abuse, deploying full force against anyone involved in the possession or trade of drugs and alcohol.
