3,948 Whisky Bottles Seized

Customs officers at the Shuwaikh Port recently foiled the attempt of an unidentified person to smuggle 3,948 bottles of whisky into the country aboard two containers, reports Al- Rai daily.

According to a customs source, the customs officers suspected a shipment of urea coming from an unidentified GCC state. The bill of lading showed the shipment contained fertilizers used for agriculture and subjected it to the X-ray inspection. The X-ray showed cartons filled with bottles of whisky (1,968 bottles) in the first container and (1,980) in the second.
