Verification Of Government Employees' Educational Certificates Initiated

17 March 2024 Kuwait

Following directives from the Council of Ministers, the process of validating educational certificates of government employees has begun.

Reliable sources disclosed to Al-Qabas that government entities, yet to address their employees on this matter, will kickstart the process this week. Emphasis is laid on the significance of uploading educational certificates onto automated systems.

Higher directives urge vigilance and meticulous scrutiny of certificates issued by Kuwaiti cultural offices abroad. Cooperation with universities to authenticate certificates is encouraged.

Egypt is expected to contribute the highest percentage of certificates issued from abroad, placing significant pressure on cultural offices in Cairo and Alexandria.

Many government employees obtained degrees from Egyptian universities, either through scholarships or private institutions.

Considering the Council of Ministers' directives dating back to 2000, ample notice will be provided for employees to submit their academic certificates. Some may need to obtain new certificates from their alma maters.

Local higher education institutions have received requests for new copies of academic certificates. Obtaining new copies of certificates issued abroad may take time.

Reassurance is provided regarding certificates from universities with revoked recognition, stating that accreditation decisions do not apply retroactively. Accreditation at the time of enrollment remains valid.

Stringent measures are in place to combat document tampering or forgery. Perpetrators will be referred to the Public Prosecution in accordance with the law.
