Us Ambassador And Other Officials Touring The Shelter For Expats
US Ambassador to Kuwait Lawrence Silverman has commended the efforts exerted by Kuwait to help expatriate workers through the shelter established for those having problems with their sponsors to stay until they are ready to leave the country after obtaining all their rights and financial benefits.
Ambassador Silverman spoke to the media following his visit to the shelter for expatriates in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh accompanied by Director of the Center Falah Al-Mutairi who gave a presentation of the role played by the shelter. He praised the level of care and welfare provided to expatriates at the center, including legal and medical services, which he said, add to the good record of Kuwait. He extolled the Government and the Parliament on the enactment of Domestic Labor Law.
He observed the presence of the center has helped improve the standard of Kuwait globally in respect of human rights. For his part, Falah Al-Mutairi said the visit by Ambassador Silverman is a boost to the efforts of Kuwait in fighting human trafficking and resolving the problems expatriate workers in general are facing. He stressed the issue of human trafficking in Kuwait is actually with the countries that export workers to Kuwait having syndicates of fake recruitment offices. He reiterated the crimes of syndicates in question are only discovered after the workers arrive in this country
