Upgrades To Kuwait's Meteorological Early Warning Systems

22 March 2022 Kuwait

In Kuwait, an official reported that the aviation authority has begun work on overhauling the weather forecasting systems.

Imad Al-Jalawi, the DGCA deputy director general, said in a KUNA interview Tuesday that the Department of General Aviation (DGCA) is implementing a number of initiatives, including the installation of early warning systems for forecasting sand storms and replacing monitoring devices.

On the occasion of World Meteorological Day, which took place on March 23, Al-Jalawi said the authority was considering setting up a system for examining factors of high altitude skies, a hydrogen-generating unit, as well as early warning systems for wind and lightning.

In addition, research will be conducted on climate change, its impact on society, and methods of coping with it.

A variety of projects are geared toward achieving the broad objectives of UN sustainable development, such as providing high quality health care, ensuring a sustainable living environment, and diversifying economies for UN member states.

According to Al-Jalawi, employing the new systems will be effective for taking measures ahead of forecast difficult weather conditions, thus potentially saving lives.
