Two Million Dinars In Unjustly Spent Funds Are Recouped By Pada
As the director of the Legal Affairs Department, Mubarak Al-Baddah, the official spokesman for the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs, told The Arab News, the authority has so far managed to recover over two million dinars from funds wrongfully spent on the disabled, either by paying the full amount or agreeing to pay it in monthly installments, or by winning lawsuits that sought to recover the money.
The authority has filed 260 lawsuits in coordination with the government's Legislation and Fatwa Department to recoup funds that were unlawfully disbursed, according to Al-Baddah, pointing out that the claim in each lawsuit is worth 873,000 dinars, indicating that a large sum has already been recovered and the rest of the money is being collected through lawsuits filed by the authority.
It is one of the most important duties entrusted to the work of the department to follow up on claims made by or against the authority, Al-Baddah stated, as 6,283 lawsuits have been filed whether by or against the authority as of last February, including 2,846 claims made against the authority that are still open to investigation.
During the course of the cases filed against the agency, 3,177 final judgments were made, out of which 2,275 were in favor of the agency and 902 against it, meaning 73 percent of the cases were successful, which refutes any allegations about the authority standing against the interests of the disabled, and confirms the correctness of its legal procedures.
