Total Of 900 Air Conditioning Units Installed In Schools So Far
Minister of Education and Higher Education Hamed Al-Azmi said his ministry is currently carrying out maintenance and replacement works in public schools found to be not ready to receive students, asserting that most of the issues have been addressed and work on the rest is underway.
Talking to the media when he visited some schools in Hawally and Mubarak Al-Kabeer educational districts, the minister disclosed that a total of 900 air conditioning units have been installed so far — 200 each in Hawally, Ahmadi and Mubarak Al-Kabeer districts; and 100 each in Jahra, Farwaniya and Capital educational districts.
He affirmed the ministry is ready to provide more air conditioning units if the need arises and it is keen on getting the job done as soon as possible, stressing they are fully committed to carry out repair and maintenance works in all public schools to better serve the students.
Furthermore, Chairman of parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee MP Hamad Al-Hershani has called on the government to take all the necessary precautionary measures in light of the recent disturbance in Iraq. He pointed out that although this is an internal issue, “we should not disregard such an incident and precautionary measures must be taken to ensure readiness in case the situation worsens.”
The MP clarified he does not doubt the capabilities of the ministries of Defense and Interior, but any political figure and leader must voice such concerns as part of their national obligations. On the other hand, MP Adel Al- Damkhi revealed that the Human Rights Committee formed a team consisting of MPs Mohammed Hayef and Thamer Al-Sumait to follow up the complaint filed by the father of a cadet who died during the officer’s college incident.
The MP urged the government to refrain from intervening in the affairs of parliamentary committees by attempting to dictate who should be in what committee as it does nothing but delay work and meetings. Meanwhile, MP Saleh Ashour has reaffirmed his intention to grill Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh for not responding to the parliamentary questions sent by him concerning the four complaints which were submitted by four ministries – Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs –in relation to Al-Thaqalain Charity Society, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to sources, MP Ashour intends to grill Minister Al-Sabeeh at the start of the next parliamentary term if she insists on not providing the MP with the information he requested concerning the four complaints which are in the hands of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, as confirmed by the ministries that lodged the complaints.
Explaining to the daily, MP Ashour said he asked for information about the complaints filed against the Al- Thaqalain Charity Society, which Al- Sabeeh had raised during her previous interpellation. She said the four ministers informed her that the complaints were received by Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
