Thefts Of Money From Bank Accounts Raises
The trend of unknown individuals stealing money from local bank accounts continues. The most recent cases are the thefts of KD 430 from the bank account of a Kuwaiti citizen in Bayan area, KD 414 from the account of a Kuwaiti woman in Salmiya area and KD 260 from the account of an Egyptian woman in Nugra area.
According to security sources, the General Department of Criminal Investigation launched investigations after several cases were registered over disappearance of money from several bank accounts of individuals such that money was being withdrawn even though the victim was in possession of his/her ATM card.
The sources affirmed that investigations are underway to determine the culprit (s). They warned the public against dealing with any unidentified individuals concerning bank-related matters and providing them with their account numbers and pin numbers. They highlighted cases where the fraudsters contact the victims via telephone to inform them that they won some contest and that their personal and financial details are required for send the cash prizes to them.
