Tense Relationship Between Two Authorities Most Important Cause Of Housing Problem
A study issued by the Center for Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies show most “Kuwaitis believe the most important causes of the housing problem in Kuwait are due to the tense relationship between the legislative and executive authorities,” in addition to the lack of coordination between the concerned government agencies related to the housing issue.
This exploratory study monitored and analyzed the causes of the housing problem in Kuwait and ways to solve it, using several demographic variables such as gender, age, educational level and the area of residence and to submit the results to the decision makers along with recommendations and to know the opinion of the citizens on this issue.
The sample of the study, which was prepared by the director of the center, Dr. Faisal Abu Salib, Dr. Salem Al-Mutawa, Youssef Al-Abd Al-Razzaq and Asma Al-Ali, included 656 male and female citizens.
According to Al-Rai 23.1 percent of the respondents believe the most important causes of the housing problem are due to the tension in the relationship between the legislative and executive authorities, while the lack of coordination between the competent government agencies related to the housing issue came in second place with 21.3 percent, then the weakness of the legislation in housing ranked third with 18.2 percent.
The insufficient contribution of the private sector came in fourth place with 9.9 percent, then the lack of priority of the housing issue with the government in fifth place with 9.1 percent, and the scarcity of the supply of residential land 8.5 percent, this was followed by the lack of financial liquidity from the government 6.6 percent, and finally the number of citizens in Kuwait increased by 3.3 percent.
