Tamil Nadu Youth Rescued From Kuwait Nightmare
Nineteen young individuals from Tamil Nadu, who found themselves ensnared in a distressing situation in Kuwait due to their prolonged association with a travel agency, have finally been rescued, thanks to the concerted efforts of the Indian embassy. This heartening tale of liberation reached its climax as they landed at Chennai airport to a warm welcome from Tamil Nadu Minister K.S. Masthan and other government officials, as reported by Alseyassah.
The Plight of Hopeful Youths:
These nineteen youths embarked on a journey filled with hope, entrusting a travel agency with a substantial sum of one lakh rupees each. In exchange, they were promised a monthly salary of Rs 60,000, along with complimentary accommodation and meals. However, their dream quickly turned into a nightmare upon reaching Kuwait. Instead of the promised remuneration, they were informed that they would receive a mere Rs 18,000 per month, while also being burdened with the expenses of lodging and food. To make matters worse, the agency imposed longer working hours on them, leaving the youths disheartened.
Escaping the Bonds of Exploitation:
As the situation continued to deteriorate, these young individuals sought to break free from their contractual obligations with the agency. To their shock, the agency demanded an exorbitant Rs 60,000 from each individual to terminate the agreement. In June of the same year, their predicament took a darker turn when they were told that their visas had expired and renewing them would cost an unaffordable Rs 1,25,000 each.
Desperate and Disconnected:
Faced with what seemed like an insurmountable predicament, these youths found themselves in dire straits as the agency heartlessly disconnected their power and water supply. It was at this critical juncture that they reached out to the Indian embassy, narrating the harrowing ordeal they had endured.
Government Intervention:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, deeply concerned for the plight of these 19 young individuals, took proactive measures. He initiated contact with the Indian embassy in Kuwait, urging them to expedite the release of these beleaguered youths.
