Suspected Gulf Bank Branch Robber Arrested
Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have taken into custody in the early hours of the night a young Jordanian, with no criminal past and believed to be in his 20s, in connection with the armed robbery at a Gulf Bank branch, reports Al-Anba daily.
The suspect reportedly escaped with KD 4,500. Security sources said the CID men found the glove used by the suspect at the site of the crime. It is also said he hid part of the stolen money in the apartment of his Filipino girlfriend in Salmiya.
The daily quoting security sources said, the detectives went to the apartment at 9:30 pm where the money was hidden.
The daily also said the suspect had spent only KD 250 of the stolen money. The suspect said that he was observing the movement at the bank for about a week before finally launching the assault.
He added he chose a day when the bank was less crowded. He also said he bought the abaya and niqab from a local market in Nugra to carry out his crime. He also said after committing the crime he dumped the clothing in garbage bin. “The pistol I used was a mere toy,” he said.
