Stopping The Issuing Of Driving Licenses To Patients With Mental Illness

The Ministry of the Interior is working with the Ministry of Health to examine the records of those who are not eligible for driver's licenses or weapon licenses.

Authorities will construct an automatic link between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Health to integrate the data of the Kuwait Center for Mental Health and the Addiction Center, according to local media Al-Anbaa. Any person with a mental health or addiction history will be flagged as ineligible to acquire a driver's license or a weapons license.

This measure intends to safeguard national security by denying weapons licenses to persons with major mental diseases and addicts, as well as to improve road safety and reduce the frequency of accidents by denying them driving permits, according to the statement.

This issue is still being researched, and once approved, it will be implemented.
