The Sri Lankan media highlighted an urgent appeal made by one of its citizens working in Kuwait, seeking assistance from his home country’s authorities to secure his rights after he was shot while on duty in Kuwait. Lashkan Thilakaratne, a 44-year-old delivery worker, was reportedly shot by a customer on January 10th.

According to a Sri Lankan newspaper, Thilakaratne, who has worked in Kuwait for 8 years, was delivering an order when he encountered a delay due to a mistake at the customer’s location. Despite redirecting to the correct address, the customer became agitated about the delay and shot him upon his arrival at the doorstep of the house, causing serious abdominal injuries.

Despite being wounded, Thilakaratne managed to drive himself back to safety and sought help from an acquaintance, an Indian national, who then transported him to the hospital. Thilakaratne, a father of two daughters aged 10 and 13, is now urging his country’s authorities to intervene and facilitate his return to Sri Lanka.
