Sponsors Giving Fake Absconding Reports Against Their Expatriate Workers

Sources from the Manpower Public Authority have revealed that some sponsors have filed fake absconding reports against their expatriate workers, and one of the reasons was to avoid being fined for failure to pay overdue salaries.  The sources noted that despite the workers being punctual and efficient, the sponsors report their workers, usually laborers, as absconding. To combat this gross violation, a special committee will determine the veracity of a report in a bid to give both the employers and employees justice. 

The sources also mentioned that employers have asked that the deadline to deposit salaries in the local banks be extended past the tenth of each month, as this would avoid delays and other issues that cause disgruntled employees to file cases against them due to late salary payments.
