Smart Power Meters Coming To Salmiya

Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the ministry ‘within days’ will start installing smart meters in Salmiya and that power consumer will have to pay their bills in advance as per the mechanism on which the smart meters will be operated, Al Qabas reported,

Informed sources told the daily that the launch of the project is a qualitative leap in the level of the services provided by the ministry. The sources added, the pre-payment mechanism is consistent with the Ministry’s main objective of the project — to collect bills on time and prevent consumer debts.

The sources stated payment can be done through several methods – via the Ministry website, via the Ministry application, via the Customer Service No. 153 and customer service offices in all governorate and the airport office.
