Shortage Of Cleaning Workers Hamper Moe Work
Ministry of Education is planning to opt for two-shit work for cleaning workers in schools to speed up the completion of work and to ensure work runs smooth during the 2021/2022 scholastic year citing difficulty in signing new contract for workers.
The ministry sources told Al-Jarida the ministry is suffering from a shortage of cleaning workers due to the inability of cleaning companies to provide more workers saying, the functioning of the companies has been severely affected by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
To add insult to injury the companies are unable to bring new workers from abroad as a result of which the companies are unable to continue contracts with the Ministry. They are also reluctant to sign new contracts due to the unavailability of labor for fear of falling into problems with the law.
The sources pointed out the ministry has discussed the possibility with the companies of employing its workers in a two-shift system (morning and evening) as required, pointing out that meetings were held with directors of educational zones to start arranging working hours.
