Sharia Graduates Are Without Jobs
‘Sharia Graduates are the without jobs’ – this statement which has been heard over and over again over the years reflects the crisis of the growing numbers of graduates of the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Kuwait University, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Their numbers have doubled under the names of their specialties while others face unemployment for years. The statistics issued by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Planning during 2012-2016 revealed that the Sharia graduates enormously exceed the needs of the market, which raises the question about the reasons for the continued acceptance of the number of students beyond their need.
The number of graduates expected to employ was about 600 graduates until last November, and the ministry promised to provide them with job grades in batches, after parliamentary interventions. The Department of Jurisprudence is one of the most popular fields of study. Graduates work as lawyers and prosecutors.
The problem of employment remains a trap for female graduates, especially after 400 graduates have been unemployed for more than two years. The graduates told the daily after waiting for the job for almost two years, we were nominated to work under names that did not match the efforts we put in during our study at the college.
We were assigned to work under the same names as graduates of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training. Meanwhile, some government or semi governmental agencies have begun conducting surveys through social networking sites, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In this regard, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development on its Twitter site has asked this question: Did you know that the Fund’s loans do not cost or constitute a burden on the general budget of the State, and that since 1986 the Fund has been able to finance itself? Forty-four percent of the respondents until 8 pm yesterday said ‘Yes’ while 56% of them said ‘No’. The number of those who took part was about 270, however the exercise continues until tomorrow. On the sidelines of the comments, it has been shown that there are those who continue to campaign against the Fund because it gives money to nations, not only to lend them, but some have a developmental role for the Fund at home
