Seven Hours After Being Born In Yemen, A One-eyed Baby Dies

Apparently, a baby boy with just one eye has been born in Yemen, an extremely rare event.

Yemeni journalist Karim Zarai, who posted the child's pictures, said the baby also had one eye socket and one optical nerve.

According to the man, the event occurred last Wednesday at a hospital in central Yemen's Al Bayda governorate. Zarai says this is a very rare case, which has been described in Greek mythology.

Local sources reported the infant's death seven hours after he was born. The health authorities in Yemen, which is ravaged by war, had no comment.

Only six such cases have been reported worldwide over the past five centuries, according to media reports.
