Rumors, False Info Place Fear Into People’s Mind About Getting Jabs
Director of Jahra Hospital Dr Ali Al-Mutairi thinks the rumors and spread of information from unofficial sources are the causes of people’s fear and reluctance to be vaccinated despite the allocation of three vaccination centers in the governorate – Naseem, Kairouan and Jaber Al-Ahmad, reports Al-Rai daily. While hosting the Fifth Jahra Forum in Al-Saeed Diwan recently, Al-Mutairi said “the vaccination process is going on smoothly. The citizens and expatriates must cooperate with the Ministry of Health, and adhere to the health regulations to achieve community protection.” He indicated that “one year and a few months have passed since the pandemic started and it continues till date. The entire society must cooperate by registering for vaccination, stressing the world today unanimously agreed that vaccination is the only way to achieve immunity among individuals.”
Vaccine
While urging citizens and expatriates residing in the governorate to register and book an appointment to take the vaccine, Al-Mutairi stressed that “everyone is the priority now after the elderly, people with diseases and front-line workers.” He announced at the same time the allocation of integrated wards in Jahra Hospital for coronavirus cases, isolated from the hospital’s entrances and exits.
Meanwhile, despite the partial curfew from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am, the ‘daytime’ gatherings continue and they directly contribute to the high rate of coronavirus infections daily; as well as the increase in the occupancy rate of beds for Covid-19 patients and intensive care units, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources from the health sector. Sources reported that most of the infections are due to contact in certain locations where an infected person, who does not show corona symptoms, could transmit the virus to others. Sources said the gatherings have been rescheduled from evening to daytime. Groups of people traveling in one vehicle from one site to another also increases the chances of transmission of the virus, the sources added.
