Roads Authority Demands Jobs For Kuwaitis In ‘contract’ Companies
The Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport, during its meeting of Jan 5, obligated the companies which have signed a contract with the authority whether the main contractor or sub-companies and consulting offices, to raise the percentage of national workers.
In a statement issued Thursday, Dr. Hussein Al-Khayat, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said the move aims at providing job opportunities for national workers, strengthening the local economy, and reducing the pressure of expatriate workers on the services.
He added the decision stipulates the percentage of national employment in local companies at the level of engineering and administrative jobs should not be less than 25%, for all contracts.
The authority said it will coordinate with other authorities in the country, particularly the Public Authority for Manpower, the Fatwa, Legislation, and the Public Authority for Social Security, to ensure that companies adhere to the condition of raising the percentage of national workers saying the ceiling of this percentage will be raised in the near future.
