Rent Allowances Have Doubled 24 Times In 30 Years
An authorized source in the Public Corporation for Housing Welfare told Al-Qabas that the total beneficiaries of the rent allowance during the first half of this year were around 135 thousand residents, with the value of the payments given to them totaling around 121 million Dinars.
According to the source, the issue of rent allowance has increased by a large percentage over the last 30 years, with the value of the sums granted to it in 1992 and 1993 being around 10 million dinars yearly.
He said that the housing care law provides rules and processes for the payment of rent allowance to qualified individuals, in which the rent allowance beneficiary submits the relevant paperwork when starting a new housing care file, which includes documents demonstrating their entitlement.
According to the source, those qualified for the rent allowance must inform the Corporation of any changes in their social and employment status, real estate ownership, or the lapse of any eligibility condition, and that the Corporation maintains links with more than 11 government agencies with jurisdiction to keep track of any developments in the case. Real estate and social ownership are two concepts that are often used interchangeably.
According to the source, the "residential" is ready to redirect the rent allowance to its recipients through data updates and technological linking activities that identify unjustified cases, such as those who divorced without having children.
