Relative Rise In Rate Of Kuwaiti Job-seekers
Despite the repeated announcements by the state about plans to ease public sector appointments and push graduates toward private sector along with the promotion of small and medium scale enterprises after oil prices slump witnessed since 2014, recent figures show the opposite, as a record number of graduates are once again looking for government jobs, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to statistics issued by the Public Authority for Manpower, a copy of which has been obtained by the daily, 2018 recorded a remarkable number of employees in the government sector while private sector absorbed 46 percent of employees, and a total of 6,829 applicants filled positions available in government agencies.
The total number of job seekers who are registered with the Public Authority for Manpower – currently do not work, do not have a pension and are not enrolled in an educational institution for 6 months and more – has increased to 16,105 citizens, up 27 percent since last July
