Reduce Traffic Congestion, Protect Students
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lieutenant-General Sheikh Faisal Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah stressed on Sunday the need to implement security and traffic preparations carefully and acccurately to reduce traffic congestion, protect students and avoid traffic accidents. This came in a press release issued by the Ministry of the Interior, following a field tour by Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf, under the directives of the Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali Al-Sabah, to a school, a number of roads, intersections, main and express axes, the main control room of the General Traffic Department, and the traffic operations control room at Jaber Bridge, in conjunction with the start of the new school year 2021/2022 to ensure the smooth fl ow of traffic. The statement added that Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf “called for firmness in the face of any wrong behavior on the roads,” stressing the need to provide aid on the roads and deal with all motorists to ensure that everyone reaches their destination safely.
Intensify
He directed the need to intensify the security presence on all highways and main and secondary intersections leading to residential areas in which there are many schools in order to prevent obstruction of traffic and to avoid random parking in front of schools. He noted the necessity of field presence for all supervisory and leadership levels to follow up on the security and traffic situation and to deal with any emergency cases, and that their work is not limited to the beginning of the school year only.
He called on parents to go to their children’s schools early to avoid traffic congestion, stressing the need for motorists to cooperate with policemen and road users, avoiding wrong parking, especially near schools, and avoiding speeding or committing wrong traffic behaviors that affect the safety of road users. Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf expressed his confidence in the ability of the employees of the Ministry of Interior to perform their duties, stressing that the success of the work and the achievement of the desired goals stemmed from cooperation and teamwork.
