Reckless Public Transport Bus Drivers Blamed For Traffic Chaos In Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh Area
The Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Traffic and Operations Affairs, Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, spoke about chaos and traffic congestion created by the bus drivers in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In a letter addressed to the Kuwait Municipality, the copy of which has been acquired by the daily, Al-Sayegh suggested solutions to the chaos created by the public transport buses in the Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh area.
The Traffic Engineering Department made an inspection tour of the area starting from under the Sixth Ring Road Bridge and along the Muhammad Bin Al-Qasim Street – Street 175, to the south of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, to determine the smooth flow of traffic, and the locations of public transport buses.
He added, that Muhammad bin Al Qasim Street – Street 175 which intersects with the Sixth Ring Road is the major ‘disturbance’ point because the road leads to a large number of shops located along it and is also a major entry and exit for public transport buses carrying thousands of workers on a daily basis to and from the region.
Al-Sayegh pointed out that during the inspection of the area, it was noted that the public transport buses hindered traffic creating chaos because of recklessness of the public transport buses drivers because they do not adhere to the parking spaces designated for them.
He said that during the tour, it was noted that public transport bus drivers stop outside the bus stops and at times stop abruptly to load or offload passengers and this is one of the reasons that lead to traffic accidents.
