Passport Delivery Machines Will Be Installed At Airports And Shopping Malls Soon
According to Major General Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khaled, Director General of the General Department of Nationality and Travel Documents, the self-service project has been very successful in renewing passports and delivering them through the devices installed in the six national identity centers.
In the future, similar devices will be introduced in commercial complexes, he told a local Arabic newspaper.
As reported by Major General Al-Khaled, there is currently a study underway to opt for electronic printing of these documents instead of manual registration. This would prevent some errors from occurring during manual registration and as well provide speedy results.
According to Al-Khaled, a special program has been implemented to provide students at home and abroad with facsimile copies of their passports through the Sahel program, which they may use when applying for admission to universities and ministries, and also carry a barcode that verifies the bearer's identity.
According to Major General Al-Khaled, there is a law presented to the National Assembly regarding the granting of nationality to Kuwaiti wives based on Article Eight. After she agrees to relinquish her original nationality, she is treated as a Kuwaiti citizen for a specific period until she is granted nationality.
He confirmed that work is ongoing throughout the year to compile lists for the naturalization of children of widowed and divorced female citizens for submission to the Minister of Interior in preparation for submission to the Council of Ministers when requested.
According to Al-Khaled, the bedoun will receive an Article 17 passport under a number of conditions, including treatment, study, humanitarian cases, as well as the wife of the citizen requesting the passport, after consulting the security authorities and the central apparatus dealing with illegal residents.
