Parliaments Foreign Affairs Committee Invites Ministerial Briefing On Foreign Affairs
The Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee on Monday decided to invite Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al- Khalid to its next meeting to discuss the latest Arab and international developments and their impact on the State of Kuwait and the ministry’s plan in this regard.
Committee Chairman MP Hamad Al-Hirshani disclosed they will also invite Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Al- Jarrah to another meeting to tackle the security agreement between Kuwait and Iraq in preparation for its submission to the National Assembly for voting.
He added the committee approved the following on Monday:
■ Legal and judicial agreements between Kuwait and Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as some GCC countries
■ Proposal of MP Khalil Abdullah Aboul to establish Kuwaiti consulates in the Iraqi city of Najaf and the Iranian city of Mashhad
■ Proposal of MP Mohamed Hadi Al-Huwailah to speed up the process of employing Kuwaitis to replace foreigners in Kuwaiti embassies, consulates, health, cultural and media offices abroad Meanwhile, MPs Khaled Al-Otaibi, Al- Humaidi Al-Subaie and Mubarak Al-Hajraf rehearsed for deliberation on their grilling motion against Minister of Social Affairs and Labour Hind Al-Sabeeh on Tuesday.
It can be recalled that on Jan 10, 2018; the three MPs submitted the interpellation motion against Al-Sabeeh on the alleged violations in her ministry, social assistance, expatriates, cooperative societies and the handicapped. Moreover, a number of MPs submitted a request to discuss the Domestic Workers Law on Tuesday after deliberating on the grilling of Al-Sabeeh.
The MPs stressed in their request that the remarkable increase in the cost of hiring domestic workers and difficulty in communicating with representatives of these workers worsened the problem; adding to the burdens of Kuwaiti families and expatriates who bear the financial, administrative and legal consequences.
Also, Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim chaired the Parliament Office meeting on Monday. Parliament Observer Nayef Al-Mirdas said the office decided to invite the chairperson of the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) to its meeting on Feb 5, 2018 to review the latest developments regarding the naturalization of Bedouns. He added the office approved minutes of its previous meeting as well as the sessions held on Tuesday and Wednesday last week.
