Parliamentary Committees Coordination: MPs Express Preferences For Committee Memberships
Following the conclusion of the "MPs 2024" coordination meeting, the Parliamentary Committees Coordination Committee has initiated its operations, urging Members of Parliament (MPs) to indicate their preferences for membership in both permanent and temporary committees.
Under the coordination of MP Badr Nashmi, the committee coordinator, MPs are being contacted to coordinate and ascertain their committee preferences. Each MP is requested to identify their top five committee preferences, ranked in order of importance, with the most preferred committee listed first.
Speaking to Al-Anbaa newspaper, Nashmi outlined the objective of ensuring that MPs' committee preferences are accommodated to facilitate seamless committee elections through acclamation.
He clarified, "I have requested each MP to submit their preferences for five committees they wish to join, prioritizing them based on personal importance. This approach is geared towards fostering parliamentary consensus, and decisions will be made based on these recommendations."
Nashmi emphasized the significant interest among MPs in committees such as Education, Budgets and Final Accounts, and Health and Social Affairs. He highlighted that this interest extends to both permanent and temporary committees, and MPs are required to specify their preferences for temporary committees without compromising the powers of permanent committees.
