The committee, which was formed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anas Al- Saleh to investigate the death of Kuwaiti citizen Ahmad Al-Dhafiri while in detention at Drug Control General Department (DCGD), has received a recorded video from DCGD from the moment Al-Dhafiri entered the department building, with the surveillance cameras monitoring the movement of the officers as they ushered him into the cell.

According to security sources who are following up on the activities of the committee, the video does not show Al-Dhafiri being beaten or tortured or even inappropriately manhandled while inside the building.

They revealed that the committee is still pursuing investigations, but is on the verge of announcing the results of the investigations officially. The sources indicated that the committee will take all necessary measures and submit its report, which will determine whether or not the officers will be convicted, followed by disciplinary procedures and legal action to be applied on everyone involved.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Essam Al- Naham received, in his office yesterday, the family of the deceased, Ahmad Al- Dhafiri. Lieutenant General Al-Naham conveyed sincere condolences to Al-Dhafairi’s family from the Minister of Interior Anas Al- Saleh.
