No Phones Since June
A large number of Ministry of Communications subscribers among them government institutions, private and investment houses have been affected by the abrupt disconnection of services by the ministry in the Farwaniya Governorate, particularly in Al-Rai, Sabhan, Andalus, Riqe’i, Firdous and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh since last June, reports Al- Rai daily.
This is particularly a sensitive issue because the military and security zones in Sabhan and the airport also have been affected.
An official at the Ministry of Communications said these areas contain about 100,000 land telephone lines and about 8,000 have been snapped which he blamed on the infrastructure works in different areas of the governorate.
The source pointed out repairing these cables falls within the scope of the Telephone Network Department of the ministry, which is unable either to restore the services and repair cables for several reasons, including the lack of spare parts, delay in the supply, delay in giving permission by the concerned authorities to block the roads so the repair work can be carried out on broken or faulty cables
